Washington, D.C.\u2014On Monday March 10, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) named Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) one of its 2025 Legislators of the Year. This annual award honors members of Congress who are strong advocates for housing and community development programs and for the NAHRO members who administer them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenator Ron Wyden has long been a champion for affordable housing,\u201d said Mark Thiele, NAHRO CEO. \u201cWe especially applaud his work on the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Improvement Act and his work building consensus with colleagues across the aisle. We\u2019re proud to acknowledge his efforts with our Legislator of the Year Award.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am proud to be named a Legislator of the Year by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials,\u201d said Senator Wyden. \u201cI strongly believe that housing and shelter are a basic human right, and I\u2019ll work with anyone to increase housing supply and provide services to end the cycle of homelessness. Oregonians know how important this issue is, so I\u2019m proud to keep advocating for smart investments in housing alongside the great people of NAHRO.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Wyden has long been a champion for affordable housing, leading the introduction of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act and building consensus with House and Senate colleagues across the aisle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, Wyden currently serves on the Committees on Finance, Budget, Intelligence, and Energy and Natural Resources.  He is Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee and a senior member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
