NAHRO Statements on the Nomination of HUD Secretary-Designate Marcia Fudge
On December 11, President-elect Joe Biden officially nominated Representative Marcia Fudge to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“Congratulations to Marcia Fudge on her nomination to lead HUD,” said NAHRO CEO Adrianne Todman. “NAHRO and its almost 20,000 members look forward to working with Secretary-designate Fudge to house our homeless neighbors, create new affordable housing, support resilient communities and help families thrive. We know from our members that Representative Fudge is supportive of the housing programs we care deeply about and that she is also a consistent fighter for programs that combat food insecurity and provide access to healthy meals, and also education and labor issues. Given her background as a former mayor, we know that community development and infrastructure are also some of her priorities. These are important to NAHRO as well.”
NAHRO President Sunny Shaw also congratulated the secretary-designate. “NAHRO members are playing critical roles during the pandemic – they have provided families with shelter, organized food drives, aided children with remote learning, kept their staff and residents safe, and so much more. Going forward, they will also play a vital role in post-pandemic recovery and aiding families experiencing unprecedented rental instability. We look forward to continuing our partnership with HUD and working with the Secretary-designate to serve the needs of the families, seniors, and children in our communities. ”
