NAHRO Is Here for You
NAHRO members and friends,
It has been reported that the administration has asked HUD staffers to justify hundreds of contracts across the agency. This comes on the heels of reports that many of HUD’s senior staff are leaving the Department, which would result in both a leadership vacuum and the loss of both program experience and institutional knowledge. Additionally, I know that many of you are still processing the turmoil created by January’s OMB memo freezing federal funding.
This is a significant transition period. We need to be prepared for more change and uncertainty, and for announcements that will require quick, decisive, and intentional action.
Through all of this, remember: NAHRO is here for you. We gave you up-to-date information on the funding freeze, shared your reports about eLOCCS and other payment systems being down with our partners at HUD and on Capitol Hill, and pushed for access to funding. NAHRO is your eyes, ears, and voice in the nation’s capital. We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to amplify how crucial our programs are to our communities. Here are a few ways you can help us serve you better.
- Stay informed. Be sure that you and your staff are subscribed to NAHRO’s Direct News emails, follow our social network accounts on LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, and BlueSky, and check our website often. That’s where we’ll post all our latest news and updates. If you subscribed to our Direct News emails but haven’t been receiving them, please email memberservices@nahro.org.
- Keep us informed. Having problems accessing your funds? Unsure about how a new Executive Order or memo will impact your agency? Contact Tushar Gurjal at tgurjal@nahro.org.
- Be ready to contact your elected officials. Your voices matter. We’re preparing resources for talking to your members of Congress and will soon add letters to our Action Alert Center that you can send to your representative, your senators and the White House.
On behalf of the NAHRO team, thank you for the vital work you do. We are honored to help you house your residents and build thriving communities.
Warm regards,
Mark Thiele
NAHRO CEO
