NAHRO Honors Chairman Sherrod Brown with Legislator of the Year Award
(Washington, D.C. – March 3, 2021)– On Wednesday, March 3, The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is honoring Chairman Sherrod Brown with the Legislator of the Year award at an online ceremony during the association’s Online Washington Conference.
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) serves as Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. He has sponsored numerous pieces of legislation geared toward funding and preserving affordable housing, particularly as the nation grapples with the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Thank you NAHRO for this incredible honor and for all you do to advocate for safe and affordable housing,” Chairman Brown said. “As Chairman of the Senate Banking and Housing Committee, I look forward to working together to make affordable housing accessible, to build thriving inclusive communities, and homeownership a reality for millions of families.”
NAHRO’s Legislator of the Year Award honors members of Congress who are strong advocates for housing and community development programs and for the NAHRO members who administer them.
“It’s my pleasure to recognize Chairman Brown’s commitment to stable affordable housing and ensuring that the housing system works for all communities,” NAHRO President Sunny Shaw said. “Our members are particularly glad for his leadership with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. Now more than ever, we need advocates on the Hill who are committed to pushing for housing and community development programs that benefit all communities, particularly our most vulnerable.”
