HUD Wants Your Feedback!
HUD is requesting comments on two items: the Choice Neighborhoods Program and the Historic Preservation Housing Initiative.
Choice Neighborhoods Request for Information
- On August 12th, HUD posted a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register regarding their Choice Neighborhood Program.
- Choice Neighborhoods is a competitive grant program that has been funded by Congress through appropriations since 2010. The program focuses on “the revitalization of severely distressed public and/or HUD-assisted housing and the surrounding neighborhood.”
- HUD is requesting feedback about the application and/or program. This feedback is critical to the program’s future and will help HUD better understand the opportunities and barriers to applying for and managing Choice Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Grants.
- Comments must be submitted in written letter form by October 11th. All comments will be publicly available.
Historic Preservation Housing Initiative
- On August 8th, 2024 the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) issued the draft Program Comment on Accessible, Climate-Resilient, and Connected Communities for public comment.
- According to HUD, finalizing this program comment will make it much less complicated and less costly to rehabilitate public housing properties. HUD is encouraging interested parties to review the proposal and share comments with the ACHP.
- Written feedback or questions on the proposed Program Comment may be sent to program_alternatives@achp.gov through October 9.
