Mark your calendars for NAHRO’s biggest advocacy campaign of the year!
Congress takes an annual August recess to return to their communities and connect with the people they represent. During this time, your elected officials want to hear from you. Our August Advocacy campaign asks everyone to speak up for housing and community development programs by sending advocacy letters each week from NAHRO’s new Action Alert Center. Join your colleagues in advocacy starting Monday, July 29.
2024 August Advocacy Schedule
- Week 1: Fully Fund HUD Programs in Fiscal Year 2025 (Jul. 29 – Aug. 2)
- Week 2: Fully Fund & Improve Housing Voucher Effectiveness (Aug. 5 – 9)
- Week 3: Support and Preserve Public Housing (Aug. 12 – 16)
- Week 4: Invest in Community Development & Housing Supply (Aug. 19 – 23)
- Week 5: Address Increases in Homelessness (Aug. 26 – 30)
- Bonus: Expand Housing Tax Credits (Sept. 2 – 6)
We need as many advocates as possible, regardless of whether they’re a NAHRO member, to urge Congress to support NAHRO’s funding and policy priorities. This August Advocacy, we’re asking 2,500 individual advocates to send over 50,000 letters to Congress and the White House. Let’s raise our voices together!
