Energy Resources and Updates From HUD

Energy Branch Resources
The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public Housing Energy Branch has issued a reminder for agencies considering energy efficiency to visit their Energy Branch webpage. Per HUD: “The Energy Branch Website is a resource for PHAs for investment in energy and water efficiency infrastructure through the Public Housing Operating Fund, technical assistance for utility management, Renewable Energy implementation, and Federal and Non-Federal Funding resources. It includes facility system information, videos, policy and guidance, and other resources to support effective energy management in PHAs.”
Energy Program Feedback
HUD is working with the Department of Energy to update the federal Weatherization Assistance Program regulations and is seeking feedback from NAHRO members. Please reach out to Andrew Van Horn at avanhorn@nahro.org if you have comments regarding any of the following questions.
- Have you participated in the Weatherization Assistance Program through your state? What was your experience?
- What were the major challenges you encountered?
- Would you recommend other PHAs consider using the program? Why or why not?
- If you considered it and decided not to proceed, why?
