Boost Your Advocacy Efforts with New NAHRO Resources
With growing uncertainty in Washington D.C., the NAHRO team wants to ensure everyone feels confident and ready to advocate for housing and community development programs. Here are some resources you can use — whether you’re preparing for NAHRO’s Capitol Hill Day on March 12 or advocating in your local communities! You can also find all these links on our website: www.nahro.org/hillday.
State-Level Housing Data
NAHRO is proud to provide members with state-level data to boost their advocacy efforts and drive home local impacts to lawmakers and staffers in Congress. These flyers contain useful information such as:
- Funding levels for programs in your state
- Number of families served by HCV and Public Housing
- Families at risk of losing services in FY 25 House and Senate budgets
- Individuals experiencing homelessness
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Units
NAHRO’s Legislative Agenda
NAHRO has reimagined the Legislative Agenda in 2025, simplifying it to a 4-page policy priorities booklet, and a 2-page summary with FY25 and FY26 funding recommendations. These documents are combined into one file for easy reference, but can be printed separately.
2025 Policy Priorities
Use this document to help prepare your talking points for your Hill Day Meetings. NAHRO’s 2025 priorities are: preserve existing affordable units, improve rental assistance programs, increase supply, promote local solutions, and support successful program implementation.
Summary + Funding Recommendations
Need a single piece of paper to leave behind after meetings? This 2-page document quickly summarizes NAHRO’s legislative priorities, recommendations for how Congress can help housers solve the affordability crisis, and NAHRO’s FY 25 and FY 26 recommendations.

2025 Hill Day Tool Kit
Attending the 2025 Washington Conference and Hill Day? Our Hill Day Tool Kit provides useful information to get you ready for your Capitol Hill meetings. Advocacy Talking Points
NAHRO has put together a list of talking points you can use whether you’re meeting with your lawmakers in Washington or calling them when you’re back home. Use these talking points to inform your lawmakers and staff on the realities of the affordability crisis in your communities, the impacts of cuts on families, and why Congress must act to protect HUD funding and programs from unprecedented cuts.
NAHRO’s Action Alert Center
NAHRO members and their networks can message directly to policymakers in Washington with timely customizable letters provided by the NAHRO team. The Action Alert Center is NARHO’s advocacy hub during our annual August Advocacy campaign but is also a useful tool NARHO Advocates can use all year round to stay in constant communication with Washington.
Share Your Story: What does affordable housing mean to you?
Congressional offices prioritize the voices of their constituents and look to you to share your perspective on what’s going on back home. Share your experiences at your housing agency during these uncertain times, the impacts of cuts in funding, and your thoughts on how Congress and Housers can protect families from a worsening housing affordability crisis using this new campaign on NAHRO’s Action Alert Center.
