August Advocacy, Week 5: A Special Message from Rep. Dan Goldman!
We’re down to the final two weeks of August advocacy! Here’s a message from Congressman Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) about the importance of housing. Lawmakers are debating how to address the end of the fiscal year and the rhetoric is heating up – ensure your voice is heard by contacting your members of Congress today.
The fiscal year ends on October 1, which leaves legislators with only 18 legislative days to pass a short-term spending bill when they return from August recess. There are major disagreements over the length and cost of a continuing resolution, and if there should be policy provisions attached. A government shutdown is possible (though far from guaranteed). Your lawmakers need to hear from you now and several times before the end of August advocacy! Help NAHRO reach its goal of sending 50,000 letters during August and lift up the importance of housing and community development funding in the next fiscal year and the impact of a shutdown on HUD programs.
