Application Deadline for 2017 ConnectHome Nation Cohort is July 31st

As NAHRO previously reported, EveryoneOn, in partnership with HUD, has announced the expansion of the ConnectHome pilot program. First unveiled in 2015, ConnectHome is a White House initiative aimed at narrowing the digital divide within 28 pilot communities (which includes participation from 23 NAHRO member agencies). ConnectHome tested the impact of cross-sector collaborators using non-government resources in order to accelerate the adoption and utilization of broadband technology by families living in HUD-assisted housing.

The expansion of ConnectHome this summer – which has been re-branded as “ConnectHOME Nation” – will launch a new cohort of communities with the goal of reaching over 100 communities and connecting 350,000 people living in public housing by 2020. Communities will be admitted in cohorts of 30, 35 and 35 in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Interested communities should note that any resident in any type of HUD-assisted housing (public housing, multifamily, Section 8) is eligible to be served by the stakeholder commitments that are part of ConnectHome Nation.

The online platform and application for ConnectHome Nation went live on July 17, 2017 and will close next Monday, July 31, 2017. Applicants will be notified of their application status on August 11, 2017. If accepted, community leads will be expected to attend a welcome webinar on August 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. ET and a annual summit in Washington, D.C. from October 31, 2017 to November 1, 2017.
