This session introduces the concept of resident councils, their history, and the necessity of resident leadership for housing authority (HA) policy, property modernization, and improved living conditions. Participants will learn the HUD requirements for resident councils and understand the impact of positive relationships between HAs and residents on advocacy efforts and resident voices.
