Get Out the Vote (GOTV) – NAHRO’s nonpartisan Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign works to ensure that every eligible voter in our communities can exercise their right to vote.

Empower
NAHRO Merit College Scholarship – The NAHRO Merit College Scholarship awards $3,000 each to eight scholars, one from each NAHRO region, who are pursuing their first post-secondary degree. Each NAHRO region submits an applicant of their choice from their own scholarship program (if no regional scholarship program is in place, the region will select one eligible applicant to complete the NAHRO Merit College Scholarship application).
NAHRO LDG Scholars Program – Selected from the eight NAHRO Merit College Scholarship winners, three students are chosen to become a part of the NAHRO-LDG Scholars program, a 10-year venture providing $1 million in scholarships and internship opportunities to low-income students from around the country. The program is funded by the award-winning multi-family housing developer, LDG Development.
“What Home Means to Me” Poster Contest – NAHRO holds an annual national poster contest for youth who live in affordable housing owned or administered by NAHRO member agencies. Each piece of art shares the children’s thoughts on the theme of “What Home Means to Me.”
Hundreds of beautiful posters from children across the nation are entered in local, state and regional competitions, and 24 are sent to the national contest, 12 winners are selected, and one grand prize winner, who is awarded a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet their elected representatives.
The winning posters are collected in the Housing America calendar, a year-long reminder of importance of safe, decent and affordable housing to children and families nationwide.
Honor
Commissioner of the Year Award – This NAHRO individual award honors a current commissioner, or one who has served within the past 12 months, who has demonstrated excellence in advocating for and developing the financial, political, and community support necessary to ensure the continuation and expansion of housing or community development programs.
The award, established in 1987 and originally named for Elizabeth B. Wells, provides a living acknowledgment of the outstanding contributions Ms. Wells made to the housing field as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the King County (WA) Housing Authority and as NAHRO’s first Vice President of the Commissioners Committee.
