NAHRO Names Representative Darin LaHood (R-IL16) 2025 Legislator of the Year
Washington, D.C.—On Monday March 10, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) named Congressman Darin LaHood as one of its 2025 Legislators of the Year. This annual award honors members of Congress who are strong advocates for housing and community development programs and for the NAHRO members who administer them.
“Congressman Darin LaHood’s work on the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act and the Preserving Rural Housing Investment Act underscore his commitment to addressing the housing crisis,” said Mark Thiele, NAHRO CEO. “We’re pleased to acknowledge his work with our Legislator of the Year Award.”
“The lack of affordable housing is a rural, urban, and suburban issue, putting an immense strain on families’ budgets across our nation,” said Representative LaHood. “Affordable housing is key to giving more families the opportunity to live the American Dream and fostering economic growth. I have been proud to lead the fight with legislation like the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act and the Preserving Rural Housing Investment Act to help tackle this crisis and provide real relief for families. I am honored to be named Legislator of the Year by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. In Congress, I will continue to work on policy aimed at strengthening our communities and supporting critical economic development opportunities.”
Congressman Darin LaHood has led the charge in the U.S. House on making the reality of the affordability crisis real for his colleagues with 273 bipartisan cosponsors adding their support to the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act. This robust bipartisan support for critical LIHTC expansion is a testament to both the Congressman’s hard work and the persistent advocacy of NAHRO and its industry partners.
