HUD Releases Zoning Reform Guidebook

On September 30th, HUD released a guidebook titled “Eliminating Zoning Barriers to Affordable Housing”. The guidebook presents “practical and evidence-based solutions” for practitioners interested in using zoning reform to address the ongoing housing supply and affordability crisis in their communities.
The guidebook is divided into 6 sections, and provides “a series of actionable regulatory, programmatic, and policy interventions” that may help municipalities mitigate zoning barriers and further the stock and variety of affordable housing in their communities for all income levels.
