HUD Announces Funding Awards
Today, HUD posted an announcement of funding awards in the Public Inspection of the Federal Register. The announcement notifies the public of funding decisions made by HUD for competitions under NOFAs for the following programs: FY 2016 Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency Program (ROSS); FY 2016 Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS); FY 2016 Jobs Plus Initiative; FY 2016 Research and Evaluation, Demonstration, and Data Analysis and Utilization; FY 2017 Comprehensive Housing Counseling Grant Program; FY 2017 Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program; and FY 2017 Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program. The announcement contains appendices that list the awardees and the amounts of each award.
Overall, the amounts of the awards are as follows:
FY 2016 Residential Self-Sufficiency Program: $31,597,607 was awarded to 115 recipients to “develop local for coordination of assistance under the Public
Housing program with public and private resources, for supportive services and resident empowerment activities. Service Coordinators link program participants with the supportive services needed to achieve self-sufficiency or remain independent.”
FY 2016 Family Self-Sufficiency Program: $75,158,372 was awarded to 687 recipients to “coordinate the use of assistance under the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and Public Housing programs with public and private resources to enable participating families to increase earned income and financial literacy, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward economic independence and self-sufficiency.”
FY 2016 Jobs Plus Initiative: $14,397,553 was awarded to six recipients to “develop locally-based, job-driven approaches to increase earnings and advance employment outcomes through work readiness, employer linkages, job placement, educational advancement technology skills, and financial literacy for residents of public housing.”
FY 2016 Research and Evaluation, Demonstration, and Data Analysis and Utilization: $2,899,177 was awarded to four recipients for “programs that seek to inform policy development and implementation to improve life in American communities through conducting, supporting, and sharing research, surveys, demonstrations, program evaluations, and best practices.”
FY 2017 Comprehensive Housing Counseling Grant Program: $50,672,051 was awarded to 253 recipients to “provide counseling and advice to tenants and homeowners, both current and prospective, regarding property maintenance, financial management/literacy, and other matters as may be appropriate to assist them in improving their housing conditions, meeting their financial needs, and fulfilling the responsibilities of tenancy or homeownership.”
FY 2017 Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program: $66,448,640 was awarded to 28 recipients for “units of state and local government to implement comprehensive programs to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards in privately owned rental or owner occupied housing.”
FY 2017 Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program: $60,327,424 was awarded to 20 recipients for “units of state and local government to implement comprehensive programs to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards in privately owned rental or owner occupied housing.”
