Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grants NOFA Released

On August 5, HUD posted the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Choice Neighborhoods (CN) Implementation Grants on grants.gov. In FY 2019, Congress appropriated $150 million to the Choice Neighborhoods and permitted HUD to obligate any unobligated funds from prior year Appropriations in the FY19 NOFA (read more heremembers only).

CN Implementation Grants support the implementation of comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans that should meet the following goals:

  • Replacing distressed public and assisted housing with high-quality mixed-income housing;
  • Improving the outcomes of households living in targeted housing, related to employment and income, health, and children’s education, and;
  • Creating conditions necessary for public and private reinvestment in distressed neighborhoods.

The NOFA makes available $164 million for Implementation Grants. Maximum grant awards are $35 million for sites that have 300 or more units. The maximum for small sites is $30 million. HUD will also award up to $20 million as Supplemental Grants to previously funded CN Implementation Grantees that meet certain requirements.

Applications are due November 4, 2019. Applications are available at grants.gov. Potential applications may submit questions to ChoiceNeighborhoods@hud.gov.
