A Message from NAHRO CEO Mark Thiele
Dear NAHRO members:
I am beyond thrilled to get to work as NAHRO’s CEO. Thank you to the NAHRO Board of Governors, including President Patricia Wells and Senior Vice President George Guy, for giving me this opportunity. Thank you to NAHRO Interim CEO and my good friend Mike Gerber for his leadership over the past 10 months. And thank you to the membership that makes NAHRO so strong. I appreciate those of you who have already reached out with congratulations and well wishes. We build off each other, and I am in outstanding company.
The leadership of our board and interim CEO, as well as the hard work of our staff, has kept NAHRO in a strong position. We recently received a clean audit, our professional development offerings are increasing and under constant refinement, and our online conferences and webinars are convenient and cost-efficient ways to learn and find community together. NAHRO is the best provider of the information, training and advocacy that you need to serve your communities. We’re getting ready to transition to a new membership database that will make your online purchasing and registration much easier – keep an eye out for more about that later this week.
Above all, I’m excited to connect with and hear from as many of you as I can. In ApriI, I got a jump start and visited with the Arkansas chapter, who gave me a warm welcome and shared their thoughts about how national NAHRO can better help them. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be attending as many regional, state and chapter conferences as I can, renewing bonds and making new friendships. I’m also looking forward to hearing your thoughts about what we’re doing well and where we can improve. There are millions of American families counting on us to build communities together.
I hope to see you online at NAHRO’s Summer Symposium from Aug. 2-3, and in person in San Diego, Calif. for the National Conference and Exhibition – NAHRO Together: Advancing Our Communities – on Sept. 22-24. We are working even harder to make this the best conference ever, as well as an unforgettable grand reunion for our nationwide family of housers and community builders.
We deeply feel the need for outstanding opportunities to meet. While we’re all capable professionals in our own right, when we come together, our power and possibilities are multiplied. Together, our voices ring louder, our knowledge and wisdom grow, and we can do more on a larger scale than we ever could alone.
I look forward to meeting with and hearing more from you – whether at a conference, on a webinar, or via email at nahroceo@nahro.org.
Together, we’ll keep moving forward.
Warm regards,
Mark Thiele
