Take Action: COVID-19, FY 2021 Negotiations Heat Up

Six months after the passage of the CARES Act and two months into the fiscal year, Congress still has not come to an agreement on additional emergency relief or final spending for FY 2021. With only eight days until the expiration of the current continuing resolution, time is running out for Congress to act.

Your voice is urgently needed – tell your members of Congress to approve COVID-19 relief that includes HUD funding and finalize FY 2021 before going home for the holidays.

After months of negotiations, an agreement still has not been reached on the appropriate level and type of COVID-19 relief, but negotiations are intensifying. Several new proposals have been floated this week, including a package from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that does not include any additional funding for HUD. Your voice has convinced Congress to include HUD in previous proposals – tell your legislators about the need for additional HUD resources in your community.

Additionally, the current stop-gap spending bill funding the federal government is set to expire on Friday, December 11. Negotiations are currently underway to finalize all 12 appropriations bills, including Transportation-HUD. Tell your members of Congress and the White House how important consistent, robust annual appropriations are to your work.
