Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh Wins Award of Excellence for Community Revitalization
(Washington D.C.-Nov. 17, 2020)- The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh is a 2020 recipient of the Award of Excellence for Community Revitalization by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) for Cornerstone Village Phase II, a decades-long project to redevelop a mixed-income development in Pittsburgh.
“This year’s award-winning agencies have given us innovative local solutions for increasing affordable housing stock and improving the lives of their residents,” NAHRO President Sunny Shaw said. “I am excited to honor them for their excellence.”
Cornerstone Village Phase II is a critical phase of the Larimer Redevelopment that has occurred under a FY2013 Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant. The process launched after the City of Pittsburgh, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), private property owners, neighborhood residents, and community stakeholders came together to develop Larimer Vision to Action Plan. HACP and its partners delivered the successful replacement of mixed-income housing through creative financial transaction, participatory site acquisition, inclusive relocation process, and community capacity building.
