July 22 Online e-Briefing Session

July 22 e-Briefing Session: Promising Models for Development with Project-Based Vouchers and Public Housing Redevelopment without Hope VI
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Savings Time)
This special e-Briefing on affordable housing development is designed to provide the latest information and "how-to" guidance for PHAs of all sizes operating both the Public Housing and the Housing Voucher Programs.The briefing is for Executive Directors, Commissioners, voucher and public housing designers and program administrators.
The e-Briefing objectives are:
1.) To examine innovative efforts of several PHAs to undertake development and redevelopment with the tools currently available, with a particular focus on project-based vouchers (PBV);
2) To describe how PHAs have used PBV to address supportive housing, as well as housing for disabled veterans and family housing;
3) To review how one PHA is addressing public housing without HOPE VI though both low-income housing tax credits and the Capital Fund Financing Program;
4) To examine when the use of various mechanisms available may be appropriate. This is an overview session, rather than an in-depth look at particular mechanisms.
Panelists include Lourdes Castro-Ramirez, Section 8 Director, Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles; Thomas F. Dobies, Director, Section 8 Department, Columbus (Ohio) Metropolitan Housing Authority; and Michael R. Weaver, P.E., Real Estate Development Coordinator, Grand Rapids (Michigan) Housing Commission.
