Q: How do I contact NAHRO staff?

Q: What are the duties of the Commissioners Committee?

A. According to the NAHRO Constitution, the Commissioners Committee shall:

  • serve to broaden the constituency supporting the goals and objectives of the Association
  • support programs to expand the skills of commissioners to effectively discharge their responsibilities; and
  • work with staff, leadership and membership at all levels of the Association in fulfillment of these purposes

Q: What is the BOG/Committee composition?

A.The composition of the Board of Governors can be found in this chart; more information is also available in NAHRO's Constitution. If you require additional information and are a member of NAHRO, you can access any of the committee pages by logging in, going to our homepage and clicking on the Committees option on the left-hand side of the screen.

Q. How do I become a better advocate?

A. Read the Key Committee Members list then complete and return the Commmissioners Congressional Relationship survey.This survey will assist NAHRO in identifying relationships between commissioners and their members of key Congressional committees.

Q. How can I volunteer to serve on a national committee or task force?

A. Here is a step-by-step guide:

  1. You must be a NAHRO Associate or Allied Individual member (membership information is available here).
  2. Advise your Regional President that you are interested in serving on one of the National Standing Committees or task forces, complete an Associates Participation Form and forward to Sylvia Bowen.

It is important that you become active in your local chapter and region. This experience prepares you for national standing committee work.

Q. How do I contact my regional/chapter/ state association president?

Q. How do I find out what is happening in the regions?

Q. How do I find books of interest to commissioners?

A. Read our list of publications for commissioners. If you would like to order a Commissioners Handbook or any other books, please contact Rosalind Schwartz.

Q. How do I determine if I am eligible for a seminar waiver?

Q: Do I have to take NAHRO's commissioner certification courses to become a commissioner?

A. No. Your local entities determine criteria for a commissioner.
